AI coaching for Cornish businesses

Less admin.
More of the
work you enjoy.

I show small teams in Cornwall how to put AI to work as an extra pair of hands. Nobody gets replaced. You stay the skipper, and your people get their time back.

Hi, do you take dogs? And is there parking? Thinking 14 to 17 Nov x

Hi Sarah, yes, well-behaved dogs are very welcome (one per booking, £15). There's a private parking space right outside the door. 14 to 17 November is free at the moment. Shall I hold it for you until tomorrow?

People first

AI doesn't replace your team. It takes the boring bits off their plate.

Think of AI as a deckhand. It does the hauling and the fetching, and it works to your orders. Your people stay at the helm. They check its work, improve it and decide what happens next.

Hand to AI

The repetitive first pass

  • First drafts of emails, quotes and posts
  • Typing up notes and voice memos
  • Searching long documents for one answer
  • Reformatting the same thing five ways
Stays with your people

Everything that needs a human

  • Customer relationships and the final say
  • Skilled work, judgement and experience
  • Checking every draft before it goes out
  • Deciding how the business is run

Easier jobs, same team

The aim is a better working week for the people you already have.

A person always checks

Nothing AI writes reaches a customer until someone on your team has approved it.

Skills stay with you

I teach your team to run it themselves, so you aren't tied to me or to one tool.

In practice

The jobs that get easier

Typical workflows by type of business. The savings shown are illustrative. Yours come from your own task list.

Common concerns

Straight answers to the worries.

These are the questions owners ask me first. None of them is a silly question.

What if it gets something wrong?

It will, sometimes. AI can state a mistake with total confidence. That's why nothing goes out unchecked, and why prices, dates and facts are always confirmed by a person.

Is our information safe?

That depends on the tool and its settings, so we choose both carefully. Personal details stay out until we've agreed how they're protected.

Will customers notice?

They'll notice faster replies. Drafts are written in your voice from your own past messages, and your team edits them. We never pass a chatbot off as a person.

Will my team go along with it?

People resist tools that are done to them. Your team chooses the jobs they'd most like rid of, so the first thing AI takes on is work nobody wanted.

What does it cost to run?

Usually very little. Most workflows run on tools you already have, or on a plan at about £20 a month per person. I tell you the running cost before we build anything.

What if the tools change?

They will. Your playbooks describe the job, not one product, so they move to a new tool with small changes. The skills stay with your team.

Understanding the risk

Not every job carries the same risk.

Most admin is low risk. A few jobs need care, and some shouldn't be handed to AI at all. At the audit, every task on your list gets one of these three ratings.

Lower risk

Go ahead

  • Quotes and emails drafted from your own notes
  • Social posts and listings
  • Tidying up meeting notes
  • Checklists and how-to guides for staff

The rule: no personal details go in, and a person reads the draft before it's used.

Medium risk

With safeguards

  • Replies that include a customer's details
  • Sales and booking figures
  • Rotas and staff paperwork
  • Contracts and confidential documents

The rule: only in a tool with the right settings, under rules we've written into your AI use policy.

Higher risk

Keep it human

  • Decisions about hiring, pay or credit
  • Legal, medical or financial advice
  • Anything sent without a person checking it
  • Health records and children's information

The rule: we don't automate these. AI can help prepare, and a qualified person decides.

Rough estimate

How much time could your team get back?

Move the sliders. The estimate assumes AI takes on a cautious one fifth of admin time.

About

Hi, I'm Stuart.

I've worked with computers since I was 14 and studied computer science at a university focused on AI research. I know how these tools work under the bonnet, so I know where they help and where they'll let you down.

Most AI advice is written for big companies in cities. Businesses here run differently: seasonal peaks, small teams doing several jobs each, and owners with no time for jargon. I live in Cornwall, I come to you, and I'll still be around next month when you have a question.

I don't sell software or take commission from tool providers. My advice is about what works for you and your team.

Questions

Asked before booking

Will AI replace my staff?

No, and that isn't what I do. I help your existing team hand over the repetitive admin so they have more time for customers and skilled work. A person on your team checks everything AI produces.

Could using AI get my business into legal trouble?

It can if it's used carelessly. The usual causes are personal data pasted into the wrong tool, invented reviews, and AI output published without anyone checking it. Every workflow I set up is built to avoid those, and you get a written AI use policy for your team. I'm not a solicitor, so I'll tell you when something needs proper legal advice.

Do I need to be good with computers?

No. If you can send an email, you can use what we set up. Everything comes with a one-page playbook in plain English.

Which AI tools do you use?

Whatever fits your business, usually ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot or Google Gemini, plus the tools you already pay for. I'm independent, so I recommend the cheapest option that does the job.

Is it safe to put customer information into AI?

Sometimes, with the right settings and the right tool. Every engagement includes a simple AI use policy that sets out what can and can't go in, in line with UK GDPR.

Where do you work?

Anywhere in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, in person. Follow-up sessions can be online if that's easier.

Is there funding available?

Sometimes. The Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Growth & Skills Hub runs grant schemes from time to time. I can point you to what's open when we talk.
